We do not wash our belts, by doing that one would

"wash away the knowledge" or "wash one's ki away."

Belts are given with the gi and as you move up in rank you will earn your belts. You never pay for your belts.

Everyone starts at a white Belt with no stripes, our belt colors are very tradition. When you pass your first testing you will receive stripes on your belt indicating you are ready to move on to the next kata or rank in our school. There are roughly 3-4 testings every year.

White belt with green 1-3 stripes, then green belt with with white strips 1-3, then brown belt with white stripes 1-3

We also have a Brown with black down the middle for those who help in class and earn it before their black belt test.

The junior Black Belt is black and white, if under the age of 16, Solid black if you did not receive a full shodan, then black belt with gold stripe for full shodan.

The highest belt rank is 9th Dan Black Belt.

Only Mas Oyama was givin a 10th Dan in Kyokushin.
